The right to slay who you want is much like being one of God's Watchdogs, right? It implies a morality built into the fabric of the world and gives it over to the player to define. Or is that a false comparison?

Many of these rights are remnants of older systems, displaced or driven underground by the Empire of Eagles and then the new nobility. The people around you might not recognize your right at all. So it's like being a Dog when there's a Territorial marshall in town too.
