Nobody who isn't a roleplayer can relate to it. Even those who are can often be a bummer:

Sample Geek: Oh yeah? Dewd, I've got this 18th level elven ranger with a +4 sword of wankity wank. And he's sooo cool because...
This makes BR go "Yea. My worry isn't that they won't get it, it's that they will."
And then tell me about their character.
