Here's my claim:
the degree to which 1) is more problematic than 2) = the degree to which a shared story ISN'T happening.

Takes my breath AWAY.
Everybody with it?
This makes MB go "I think so..."
If a shared story IS happening, then the other-contribution will be in line with that story, and feel like part of the character without undue stretching of character/story concept. Am I close?
This makes VB go "right on!"
If a shared story is happening, then (1) and (2) are equally destructive.
This makes AJF go "Thanks! Just me digesting (all) your stuff out loud."
