I think you're saying "A conflict in which no one has a preference for either outcome isn't that useful for game design."

I'm saying "A situation in which no one has a preference for either outcome is not, in any way, a conflict at all."

I'm tempted to say this is another way of expressing the concept of "Say Yes or Roll Dice."



 

This makes TC go "Best Rule Ever..."
Say yes or roll dice is the best rule ever invented, IMHO. It totally changed my perspective on the way RPGs should work.
