I have confidence in the BSG creators to have a reasonable semblance of a plan, and they've been doing some pretty nice pulling together of stuff 2nd season.
I have a vision of the end of 3rd season BSG, but I'll put it in a side thing as I have a vague feeling that it might be vaguely spoilery to someone who hasn't seen 2nd season (no actual spoilers, but...).
This makes CS go "My vision"
End of third season: Baltar, this time having volutarily betrayed humanity, goes over to the Cylon side.
Last image of season 3: Baltar ascends and sits down on the thrown-like command console from the original. 3 seasons to make the pathetic and ridiculous villian character from the original series a figure of profound meaning and significance.
Hey, I can dream.
This makes JCL go "why third season?"
Why wouldn't he do this at the end of the second season?
Speaking of which, I was mildly disappointed with the first episode of the the second half of season two. I felt it was just a "holding place" between the mid-season Pegasus cliffhanger and the actual resolution of the conflict.
This makes CS go "Slow pace (spoilers)"
I like things really slow paced (and this show delivers, with -what- 5 episodes of mid-level characters stranded on Kobol at the start of season 2), so I'm assuming that Roslin dies end of second season, and that we have a season of President Baltar. However, Roslin is dying fast, and Baltar is pushing fast towards open betrayal, so probably end of second season is more likely.
I really liked Resurrection Ship Part 1, better actually than Pegasus or Part 2. The moral dillemnas were much nastier in part 1, and the parallel assassination orders scene was absolutely beautiful. Part 2 would have been its match, but I didn't like Gina (6) killing Cain. The dialogue in that scene was bad, and it provided too much of a cop-out to the question of whether they needed to kill Cain to keep the fleet safe (I loved the parallel rescinding of the assasination orders though).
Lee's subplot, and the fact it was the framing device, though, was just beautiful.
This makes KM go "Yeah"
Msm and I are big fans, but both of us were dissapointed with the dialogue in that scene. If she had to say anything it should have been "Are You alive?"-
This makes XP go "Totally agree"
with you, Charles, about the cop-out thing. I felt exactly the same way, and so did Lisa.
